• 24th November - Changes to The Organ's website
  Web Editor (2003-2006) Alastair Disley writes:
  
  "Over the past year I have found it increasingly difficult to update The Organ's website as often as I would have liked. Since I took over the site in early 2003, web technologies have moved on apace, with software such as "blogs" now enabling frequent updates and collaberative authorship. It is time for The Organ's website to embrace these new technologies, but I lack the time to implement them. With the support of The Organ's team, I will therefore be stepping down as Web Editor, effective immediately. Technical oversight of the website will pass to Andrew Rose, an experienced web author. My role in sourcing and editing content for the website will return to the magazine's editorial team. Material previously sent to me should be sent to The Organ's office email: officeorgan1066@aol.com.
  
  I want to thank everyone who has been kind enough to send me material for inclusion in the news and concert diary, and would encourage you to keep sending such information to the address above. I will of course forward on anything sent to me. I hope to remain involved with The Organ, in the immediate future by completing two articles that have been pending for far too long. • 24th November - New Beckerath organ to be dedicated at Marlborough College
  The UK's first Beckerath organ since the 1970s will be dedicated at Marlborough College, Wiltshire on Sunday 4th February, 2007, with a Festal Evensong at 6:30pm and a recital by Simon Preston at 8pm. Entry to both events is free, although space limitations require attendees to obtain tickets from: The Music Secretary, Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, SN8 1PA, or by email at musicsec@marlboroughcollege.org. • 11th November - Concert news
  While the organ of the Royal Festival Hall is out of action, the South Bank Centre as a whole is not without organ music. On the 27th of November, Catherine Ennis will be performing Bach's little-heard A Musical Offering, based on an improvised six-part fugue for Frederick the Great. Andrew McCrea will explore the piece in a pre-concert talk beforehand. And in the New Year, the Early English Organ Project comes to the QEH, where Patrick Russill will be joined by members of The Sixteen in an exploration of pre-Reformation liturgical and keyboard music. Further details of both these concerts are in our concert listings.
  
  Meanwhile the recent Principal Pipe Organs instrument of Burton Joyce Parish Church, just east of Nottingham, welcomes all comers to the organ open day and concert on the 18th of November this year. Anyone can try the organ, refreshments are available and the day runs from 10:30am until 5:30pm. At 7:30pm there will be a concert by Director of Music James Williams and friends (tickets 5 from 0115 8410015).
  
  
• 9th November - New conference series: The organ in England
  A new conference series has been launched in Oxford in association with the British Institute of Organ Studies entitled "The organ in England: its music, construction and role in history in the second millennium". Over the next four years, beginning with consideration of the period up to the death of Elizabeth I. Details of the series are available here.
  
  
• 7th November - AFNOM report
  Martin Stacey reports that the Annual Festival of New Organ Music was a resounding success. Reports from the 2006 festival are on the AFNOM website, and details of 2007's festival will be published there in December.
  
  
• 4th November - International Csar Franck Competition at St Bavo, Haarlem
  Details of the 2007 International Csar Franck Competition to be held at St. Bavo's Cathedral and Basilica in Haarlem, The Netherlands, have recently been announced. The theme will be "Csar Franck & Jehan Alain". The competition website currently has 2007 details in Dutch only, but other languages are "coming soon"!. Prospective candidates should work up Franck's Pice Hroque and send a recording of their performance to the organisers before June 1st.
  
  
• 2nd November - Orgelfestival Holland 2007
  The programme for 2007's Orgelfestival in Alkmaar has recently been announced, and details can be found on the Alkmaar Orgelstad website here. The festival runs from the 19th to 30th of June, and concentrates on Dietrich Buxtehude's compositions, as 2007 is the 300th anniversary of Buxtehude's death. Events include a Buxtehude weekend of concerts, tours and lectures, a week-long English speaking organ academy, and the 7th International Schnitger Organ Competition.
