- A new Visser organ in Metairie, Louisiana
One of Pieter Visser's latest instruments (pictured right) has been dedicated at John Calvin Presbyterian Church in Metairie, Louisiana, USA. The church's sanctuary was the target of an arson attack in 2000, and the dedication on October 24th of this new pipe organ represents the culmination of the church's rebuilding programme. The asymmetrical oak case is a contemporary take on a classic design, and much the same can be said for the tonal scheme, reproduced below. The stop-knobs have their faces angled toward the player in the manner of late Victorian American pipe organs. Visser Associates have built over a hundred new organs in the USA.
