A short introduction from Olivier Latry tells us that Yvonne Messiaen discovered this piece in 1997. Study of the sketches show that some elements of the second theme are related to Le Banquet Céleste of 1928 and thus suggest a similar date for this work. The registration recalls that of Tournemire. Essentially the piece consists of gently moving RH figures on an 8' Bourdon against a Vox Humana and double pedal. The piece would benefit from a generous but clear acoustic and versatile stop-list. Recommended for anyone who likes Messiaen; not technically demanding but very lovely.
