Philip Lawson: Litany to the Holy Spirit
Philip Lawson: Litany to the Holy Spirit. SATB and organ. Encore
£2.25
This is a lovely gentle piece which skilfully combines the opening organ melody with further themes from the choir. While the music flows easily most of the time, the composer expresses the poet's sickness in head and heart (verse 2) by deliberately stopping the motion at the end of each phrase. In the next verse, the voices still come to a halt while the organ part keeps moving, and by the next verse the flow has become continuous again.
