Bärenreiter Urtext
£33.00/£35.50
The complete edition of Froberger's music is scheduled to encompass six bilingual (German and English) volumes. This volume, like the others, contains a critical report and a detailed preface with sections on the scope and subdivision of the edition, editorial method, performance practice and biographical notes. The detail is such that this takes up almost as much space as the music. Anyone who has an interest in such music should not resist. Again, first class presentation.
I agree with my fellow reviewer that the editing in these volumes could not be bettered. Most of the music is for clavier rather than organ, though some of it could be played on a chamber organ to good effect. However, this is mainly house music, and will well repay study for those learning the keyboard and in particular developing a harpsichord repertoire and technique.
