Thomas Adams: Organ Works Volume 4
Thomas Adams: Organ Works Volume 5: Six Organ Pieces ; edited by Geoffrey Atkinson. Fagus Music
£12.00
Those who are familiar with the organ music of Samuel Wesley will recognise the mixture of 18th-century style counterpoint & 19th-century romanticism in an early manifestation. Adams was an organist in the City of London in the 1st half of the 19th century & these 6 pieces combine fugal movements with lyrical sections exploiting solo reeds - Hautboys, Cremonas, etc. They're of medium difficulty & Geoffrey Atkinson's editorial notes are, as always, first-rate.
