Carols for Christmas

Aled Jones with Gerald Finley, the Royal College of Music Chamber Choir, the Farnaby Brass Ensemble and David Willcocks

This 1985 recording was made when Aled Jones was at the height of his popularity as a boy soprano and for those of us who have always enjoyed his unpretentious musicality it is a very welcome reminder. Twenty-four carols, often in pleasantly unusual arrangements, recorded in St Edmundsbury Cathedral, with art works from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, to carry us over the potential visual longeurs. In all a very satisfying addition to the Christmas stocking.
