This webpage accompanies the last in a series of articles in The Organ (planned for publication in issue 336, February 2006, subject to space) about the pipe organs of Stockholm's churches and concert venues. In these web page articles you can find pictures and links it was not possible to include in the magazine for space reasons, as well as a small number of specially recorded sound examples. For most enjoyment, we recommend you read this page in conjunction with the magazine which has lots of information not published here.

- Katarina kyrkan
Pictured below is the exterior of the Katarina kyrka. Its organ is briefly mentioned in Issue 336 of The Organ.
- Sofia kyrkan
More pictures and details of the organs in the Sofia church and others featured in Issue 336 of The Organ are coming soon. Meanwhile here are the sound recordings made on the organ. These two musical examples were kindly recorded by organist Henrik Arlestrand. Both examples are in mp3 format.
- Example 1: Improvisation
This improvisation on a chorale melody found in the Swedish church chorale book uses only the stops and accessories that would have been available on the original two manual organ. It is recorded from the organ gallery, giving a more intimate portrait of the organ. The example lasts four minutes and five seconds, and the file is 4.67MB in size.

- Example 2: Carillon de Westminster
Henrik gave this performance of Vierne's famous work unrehearsed. It is recorded from the floor of the church, and gives a better impression of the organ as heard by most of the congregation. The example lasts six minutes and 48 seconds, and the file is 7.79MB in size. Click here to download
